Over five decades of experience in teaching, research, training and consultancy. Formerly, Professor and Department Head, Electrical Engineering, at the National Institute of Technology, Allahabad, and earlier at the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela; Advisor, Institute of Applied Manpower Research, New Delhi Consultant to AICTE, Engineering Council of India, UN Economic Commission for Africa, and International Labour Organisation.

Areas of expertise include: manpower profiles and skill development in industries; requirements, development and utilization of scientific and technical personnel; human resource planning and labour market analysis; employment and training in informal sector, systems and procedures for recognition of professional expertise under WTO/GATS, generation, dissemination and utilisation of knowledge.
